A little bit about myself: 

  My name is Faye Johnson and I first learned about Doulas living on a military base in North Carolina in 2004.  I have since moved back to Michigan, where I am originally from. I am a Breastfeeding Educator as well as a Doula. To become a Doula, I trained through DONA (Doulas Of North America), and have helped many people achieve their goals during labor and birth.   I work throughout all of South-East  Michigan and have backup doulas available to help out whenever help is needed. Though to become certified I only needed to attend 3 births after my training, I have assisted in many births prior to taking this course.  I have always loved the atmosphere of being in the delivery room when "mom-to-be" becomes "mom".  I have always felt that this is where I belong.  Having an enormous extended family, I was able to witness and help with a large number of births. I have seven aunts and uncles from my father's side alone, and my oldest aunt has ten children who all have children of their own.  Now my cousin's children are starting to have babies.  I am so fortunate to be able to witness and assist with so many births. Being in the delivery room is like a second home to me. I would love to have the opportunity to make you feel at home there as well.

EVENTS:

****La Leche League will be starting in the Downriver area on January 16th,2009 at 10:00 am and will be held on the 3rd Friday of each month at the Aquinas Center (Southgate-Across from Sam's Club). If you are pregnant and plan on nursing or want information on breastfeeding, you are more than welcome to attend the meetings.  Children are always welcome along with parents.  **** Please call or e-mail me if you would like to join a MOM 2 B group in your area to help ease some pregnancy fears or just to chat with other pregnant women.
